Tile job gone bad in AtlantaMay 15, 2012 This customer hired a contractor ( from one referal ) and over the course of 3 weeks...which itself is crazy, 8-10 days max...had 3 different crews that were all obviously inept, totally screw up her bathroom renovation. Her mistake(s) was not getting multiple references, at least 10-15, not getting before/after pictures, and not STOPPING the job after the 1st crew was sent away ( the company apparently had no one capable of doing this job ). So after thousands of dollars were spent on material & labor, she hired me to fix the damage...which can not be fixed, had to start over from scratch. And after tearing out everything, 8 days later you see the result of a proper job...with only me as a crew. A few days from now she'll finally have her bathroom back, but after spending thousands more to do it AGAIN. PLEASE do not go with lowest bid on your tile job. In these tuff times I know its tempting, but everyone out there is doing things they have no experience in just to make a buck....do NOT make a very costly mistake. By the way, my labor on this SHOULD be at $3000-$3500, but I felt so bad for her I did it for $2000 . STARRTILE@YAHOO.COM....or call: 678-852-8352 Bob Doyle

Construction Intervention: Tredici RestaurantApr 25, 2012 Dominick Anfuso, the owner and chef of Tredici restaurant, has his hands in the pasta and in every aspect of the renovation. Without a clear and concise plan, he opened his restaurant four years ago, and then started construction. As a result, this project has turned into a two year renovation nightmare with too many bad contractors in the kitchen, an architect with a different vision, and a business owner who's forced himself to play the role of sub-contractor, restaurateur, and chef. Unfortunately, his dream of creating a traditional Italian restaurant is taking a toll on his family, his health, and his bank account. Tredici, which means 13 in Italian, is certainly Dominick Anfuso''s unlucky number! Dominick did what any of us would do when he started the renovation of his restaurant. He got recommendations for a contractor and hired one for the job. The first one proved to be incompetent and he was fired. The second one did everything wrong and left with Dominick's money. Now Dominick is trying to be his own contractor, and run his restaurant. And on top of that he keeps changing his mind about what he wants causing further delays. He needs a construction intervention to undo the damage caused by disreputable contractors. Unless this happens, his dream of a themed "traditional" Italian restaurant with an indoor piazza, painted blue ceiling (that resembles the sky), balconies, and a monorail glass system over the bar, may never come to fruition. An architect trained in ...
Bad Job Laying CeramicApr 01, 2012 The people before us put down ceramic tile over top vinyl flooring. As a result, most of the grout was cracked and several tiles were cracked in half. A lot of people renovate a house before resale with fixes that may not be done properly. Like many issues in our house, this floor was disgusting in the quality of the laying down.
